Faith?
What is Faith? I shall be looking at faith from the Judeo-christian concept. Saint Paul in Hebrews 11 v 1 defines it as the substance of things hoped for; the evidence of things not seen. Another translation put it thus: the confidence that what is hoped for will actually happen, it is the assurance of things which we cannot see.
Thus, Faith is rooted in trust, and from a judeo-christian viewpoint: trust in what we cannot perceive with our five senses. The firm belief that there is more to this world than what we can perceive. Having faith thus requires you to suspend reason, trust in the uncertain, the supernatural, the intangible. Small wonder then Saint Paul went onto say in v 6a of Heb 11: For without Faith, it is impossible to please God.
A little analogy on Faith: Just as the eye is critical to the natural realm, without the eye you cannot see. So is Faith, it is the 'eye' with which to 'see' in the realm of the supernatural, without this 'eye' you cannot operate in the supernatural. You cannot believe in God or his Son, nor can you believe in concepts such as Heaven or Hell or the very concept that there is a purpose, a reason for it (it being everything you have ever experienced) all. THERE IS A DIVINE PURPOSE FOR UR LIFE. Only with faith can you believe this, only with faith can you seek to find for yourself what that purpose is. Then will you separate yourself from this faithless, godless and morally bankrupt generation.
